Kief Edibles, 1906

Titled: The Arabs Hasheesh

Interesting newspaper article from 1906 with an old edible recipe for liver…

“It was liver powdered with kiff. Kiff is hasheesh. It is made of hemp, and it makes you drunk. The Arabs mix it with their tobacco, and they bread liver with it, and they drop it in coffee. Thus they eat, drink and smoke their kiff.”

I love to cook, I’m also a big fan of edibles.  Such an inventive way to use kief, as a breading…  Here is my thoughts if you were so inclined to make kief breaded liver circa 1906…

If you coat with the kief before cooking, regardless of cooking method, I would guess the results would be less then desired… I would bread the livers like regular, fry them, then when done take them out, wait a split second for excess oil to drip off then roll, coat or toss with the kief…

Might crust really nice with the residual heat…
“I ate their kiff and imagined my arm to be a mile long. I thought my foot as big as a mountain. My voice, when I spoke, sounded in my ears like the roar of a thousand thunders. In a word, I was kiff drunk”
