Guitarplayer, 1641

“Guitarplayer” – by David Rijckaert III, 1641

“The feather hat that the woman is wearing characterizes her as a prostitute. She is drinking (Taste), smoking (Smell), prodding the man with her pipe (Touch), who is playing the guitar (Hearing). Only Sight is missing, and this may have been depicted in a cut-off part of the background.”

Or maybe, just maybe…

The sight is with you, the viewer….

Que the twilight music…
